Dr. Casey Cable
Dr. Casey Cable is a compassionate Pulmonary and Critical Care specialist dedicated to helping patients breathe easier and feel more confident in their care. She brings deep experience in pulmonary medicine, critical care, medical education, and patient advocacy to the Richmond community.
For her, lung care is deeply connected to helping patients live more fully. “Breathing is fundamental to living well. I chose lung care because helping patients regain and preserve that essential function can have a profound impact on their quality of life.”
Dr. Cable earned her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Emory University in Atlanta.
Her experience includes caring for patients with complex pulmonary and critical care needs, while also serving as an educator and clinical leader. She has taught medical students, residents, fellows, and clinicians, bringing the same clear, supportive communication to education that she brings to patient care.
Beyond training and leadership, her care is defined by education, advocacy, and helping patients feel more in control of their health. “My favorite part is helping patients feel and breathe better so they can get back to the activities they enjoy. I also enjoy educating and empowering patients to better understand and manage their lung conditions.”
She also understands that healthcare can be difficult to navigate, especially when insurance policies delay access to needed treatments. Advocating for patients is an important part of her work, helping them move through care with clarity, support, and confidence.
At Virginia Lung, Dr. Cable embraces the clinic’s focus on personalized, patient-centered care. “Every patient is unique.” She said. “We take the time to understand their specific needs, goals, and concerns to develop an individualized treatment plan.”
