Dr. Sajid Farooq

A highly skilled interventional pulmonologist, Dr. Sajid Farooq is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. He brings over 9 years of clinical experience in managing complex respiratory conditions, with a particular focus on procedures such as bronchoscopy, EBUS, thoracentesis, and pleural catheter placement. Originally from Pakistan, he earned his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College and completed his residency in Cincinnati before pursuing his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Missouri.

In 2018, Dr. Farooq relocated to Richmond, where he quickly formed a strong connection with the community and a vision for delivering accessible, personalized lung care. He is particularly passionate about sleep medicine and has helped countless patients regain restful sleep through accurate diagnosis and management of sleep apnea and other breathing disorders.

“Restful sleep isn’t a luxury—it’s a vital part of health. Helping patients breathe better at night transforms their energy, mood, and overall well-being,” Dr. Farooq shared. His commitment to evidence-based care and thoughtful communication ensures each patient receives support tailored to their unique needs.

When he’s not in the clinic or hospital, Dr. Farooq enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three sons, especially hiking Virginia’s scenic trails or tending to his home garden. In 2024, he joined his partners in co-founding Virginia Lung, with a mission to deliver innovative, patient-centered pulmonary care throughout Central Virginia.
